Chris Ivory was not a big name coming into the season but after this week he is a major player in the Saints backfield. With Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush down with injuries, the Saints offense became one dimensional. Enter Ivory and his 158 yard performance on Sunday and the Saints are no longer one dimensional.
Ivory came by way of Washington State University, however he was limited to just 22 games where he ran for 534 yards and 4 touchdowns because of injuries and others deserving more playing time. With one year left of eligibility he transferred to Division II school Tiffin. He had 223 yards in 5 games before a season ending injury.
He was not drafted in the 2010 draft, but was signed by the Saints immediately following the draft as an undrafted free agent. He immediately impressed the Saints brass in the pre-season and ended up beating out Ladell Betts for the final running back slot. After his performances and his 6.3 yards per carry average he now has to be considered a featured back. Even if it won’t be for the Saints next season. He absolutely shredded a decent Bucs defense.
As for his card values, what card values? He wasn’t even supposed to make the team. You can bet he is going to be in some upcoming releases. Coming from a D II school and having very little chance of sticking not even Press Pass had a card of him in their set. Look for some in upcoming Panini sets. You know eBay buyers will be watching.
