This one comes from Chris at the Sports Card Forum. He bought a box of 2010 Topps Sterling, and boy did he get an AWESOME pull! Before you lay eyes on the pull, you should know that the box runs $224 on eBay, but Chris paid $250 for his box. Here is the box configuration:
- 2 hits per Sterling box!
- 1 Autographed Relic or Relic card numbered to 10 or less per box
- 1 Relic Card numbered to 25 per box
- Each Sterling box contains 1 Theme Pack and 1 Mystery Pack – Each Theme Pack contains 3 Topps Sterling Base cards PLUS 1 Relic Card numbered to 25 and 1 Autographed Relic or Relic card numbered to 10 or less
- Each Mystery Pack contains 1 Framed Parallel card numbered to 50 or less or 1 Numbered Cut Signature Card
I am not going to lie, after reading what you can get I would be pumped up as well. However, let’s analyze this first. Two hit’s per box, so that means each hit is worth around $125 each. You get one relic card numbered to 25 (not too many relic cards are worth $125), one autographed relic card or relic card numbered to 10. The Mystery Pack will likely contain the framed parallel.
So Chris was giddy when he got the box and tore into his first high end pack ever. His results were nauseating! For his $250, he got one of these:
His other card, the BIG HIT was a David Ortiz Triple Relic numbered 3/10, with THREE WHITE PIECES OF UNIFORM! Just like the David Wright above. $250 gets six white pieces of jersey. He said that would be the last high end box he ever buys. Shame on Topps for putting garbage like this in a high end product like Topps Sterling! This should be patches and autographs only.
What do you think of Chris’s pull? I give it a solid 9 of 10.
