Yesterday in baseball we had feelings from all over the spectrum.

Happiness:

Stan “The Man” Musial turned 91 yesterday and at this point he has to be baseball’s elder statesman.

Justin Verlander wins not only the AL Cy Young Award but also the AL MVP, becoming the first starting pitcher to do so since Roger Clemens (1986).

Sorrow:

The death of Greg Halman, who was fatally stabbed and his brother was brought in as the prime suspect. The above link is a piece written by Jim Caple which is excellent.  Although not a household name, he will be missed terribly by a Mariners organization who fostered him since he was 16.
