At first glance at the above news, I was pretty excited. I’m a Yankee fan and would love to see Pettite back in pinstripes. Of course the more I thought about it, I don’t think it’s the best idea for the Yanks. Now I know that you can never have too many starters. However, Pettitte will more than likely open up in AAA Scranton. That means living in Durham, I might be able to actually meet him and get an autograph. The question is, whether or not Pettitte will accept an assignment to Scranton.
After a year off, even if he did stay in shape, he still is going to need some minor league starts. So who gets bumped in the rotation. Right now its six deep with Sabathia, Kuroda, Nova, Pineda, Hughes and Garcia. Now go and remove two of them. Garcia and who? Hughes? Kuroda? I think I would rather not have Pettitte in the rotation. I know it sounds mean but in reality he is just there for rotation protection.
Its going to be a fun season for the Yankees, because as fans we can’t lose. We get to see Pettitte again in the majors at some point and if not, we should have a fantastic rotation this year. Something we couldn’t say about least year’s rotation. As for Pettitte’s card worth, his autographed cards are worth about $30 – $50. One of the only admitted steroid users, whose reputation didn’t get tarnished too much. This is going to be a fun fun season!
