Bryce Harper finally made it to the bigs over the weekend.  I’m not going to lie, it’s a pretty big deal. Being that we saw him go from this:

To when he won this:

To when he was drafted first overall:

And now we are going to hear about every single hit (or 0-4 day) he has.  Personally I really hope that he has an amazing career if only because this bat:

Will be worth a ton.  My prediction for this season is: 0.283 with 22 home runs, 64 RBIs and 15 stolen bases.

Any predictions from anyone else?

I don’t really expect too much from him, especially if he finds injuries around him in the lineup (Re: Zimmerman). I would be more comfortable at .265, 10 HR and 40 RBIs given he is still super young and everyone already knows about him. MLB pitchers will adjust to him, and the relaxed numbers will follow. I think he has huge upside, just not right now.

If Bryce Harper doesn’t turn into the next Albert Pujols-type player, he’s going to disappoint all of the people who are collecting his cards and memorabilia. And while I think he’s going to have a good career, I don’t think anybody can predict who might be a once-in-a-generation star.

If you knew anything about autographs and value, you would know that even if you have a bryce harper autograph on the bat, you still have 15 other names on it that will bring down the value drastically. The only way the bat will be worth a ton is if 95% of the players make it big, and even then. In the future your better off having them sign individual pieces.

Although the best signature on the bat is Harper, there were four first round picks who signed and three more pending first round picks. The bat was signed at the invitational Tournament of Stars. Although Harper is the first to make it to the majors, I’d say conservatively there should be at least 10 more who will be called to the show from this bat. What you say isn’t true thought. I have a 2004 team USA bat and have been offered more than a single signed Alex Gordon or troy tulowitski bat.

My prediction – he’ll be sent down to the minors again and brought back in September. From what I have heard, he didn’t have a good spring training and has been mediocre in the minors this year. He still needs more time in the minors before making it in The Show to stay.
